Itinerary

Saturday, Feb. 1:

Enjoyed local beaches while we waited to board our boats at the DYC base in Jolly Harbour. This trip had a total of SIX boats, two of which were privately owned. The Chart Briefing, led by Tanner of DYC, was that afternoon with every skipper and their First Mate(s) in attendance.

Everyone met at the Out Out Bar & Lounge for pizza the first evening, then some went dancing to live music at La Cantina.

Sunday, Feb. 2:

Most boats were underway by noon and headed to Deep Bay to anchor for the night. All crews congregated on the beach for lobster and chicken dinners, complete with live entertainment and a bonfire. The skippers selected the best-dressed (for the tropical theme) six sailors who then participated in a conch-blowing contest!

Monday, Feb. 3:

On to Great Bird Island! Several people were picked up by a tour boat which took them to Sting Ray City where they could actually pet those amazing creatures. Those who stayed behind went snorkeling.

Tuesday, Feb. 4:

Sailed in great wind to Green Island where we held a dinghy contest: no motors were allowed, but you could use one sheet and two paddles (but not for propulsion)!

Wednesday, Feb. 5:

Moored in Falmouth Bay. Most went ashore to the historic Nelson’s Dockyard then ate at one of the many local restaurants. That evening, a few people participated in a karaoke contest.

Thursday, Feb. 6:

To the beach - or to the hills to hike - or back to Nelson’s Dockyard for the shops and a cool museum. Many people - including Hans - hiked from Pigeon Beach all the way to Fort Berkeley. Vertical ropes came in handy!

That evening we were treated to the spectacular view from Shirley Heights along with entertainment by a steel drum band. Most also purchased the delicious BBQ dinners.

Friday, Feb. 7:

Sailed to Ffryes Bay which had a beautiful beach. That evening was our “Antigua Blue” flotilla party on the beach. Thanks to an energetic DJ, there was lots of dancing!

Saturday, Feb. 8:

Left for Jolly Harbour early in the morning for the fuel dock, where we were boarded by a DYC employee to bring the boat back to the base for us.
