Learn to Sail
Giving the students a send off.
The Morris chapter of SEAS runs basic sailing courses for people interested in learning how to sail. Classes are taught by SEAS members who have been certified as sailing instructors. The course consist of one evening online introduction session, and three full day sessions, where students will be taught the theory of sailing and put their new found knowledge to the test in the chapter's boats. Prior to each of the in person sessions participants will be screened for symptoms of COVID-19. The screening includes, but is not limited to, a body temperature check. The basic sailing fleet consists of Aquafinn lateen-rigged boats as well as O’Day Javelin, Designers Choice, and American 14.6 sloops, a mix of boats that allows students to learn to sail both sloop-rigged (2 sails) and single sail boats on the safety of Budd Lake. Membership in SEAS is open to people who have either completed the SEAS Basic Sailing Class, or who can demonstrate equivalent ability.
